First Day...Complete!

Our first day went GREAT! Students were able to get settled in and of course organized during the first part of the day.
Here are a few pictures from today:
During Science, students were able to create "The Thing" out of toothpicks and gum drops. While experimenting students learned the importance of making detailed observations and communicating with one another.  Only ONE student from each group was allowed to see "The Thing" so they could tell the others in the group how many supplies they needed and how they needed to construct it. Everyone did such a great job!

 Fun times at lunch!

During Reading, to kick off our PBL on "Bullying" we discussed the importance of the word "KINDNESS." Each class was assigned one letter to discuss, ours was the letter D, we discussed how it is imperative for someone to be DEPENDABLE when being kind because you always want to be able to depend on that person. After discussing the different traits of the word kindness students went out in the hallway and used their thumb to stamp the banner then sign to promise to always be kind to each other no matter what. When all 4th grade students have signed and stamped the banner, teachers will hang it up on the 4th grade hallway to serve as a constant reminder to be kind to everyone.

I then shared that today my sweet little girl is 11 months old...TIME ..please slow down!
~ Happy 11 months Harper Klae!

I am so proud of how everyone worked and collaborated with one another so well today! I allowed students to pick their own seats in the classroom, thinking to myself that I would have to change seats as soon as the first day was complete but these students PROVED me wrong. Students held meaningful conversations with one another, worked cooperatively with their group members and was respectful at the same time. I am so IMPRESSED! Keep up the outstanding work ALL STARS!
Love,
Mrs.Gault
