Here are a few pictures from our first two weeks at school!
"The Thing"
Students had to use ONLY their observations to communicate with their classmates on how to build "The Thing" the teacher had constructed. They used toothpicks and gumdrops to construct what they believe their group member observed. 
"Water Water Everywhere"
Students had to use their prediction skills and predict how many drops of water will fit on a penny. Predictions were WAY off and students found that when they placed the drops on their penny the water expanded causing more drops to be added. Our class average of drops on a penny was 22.3 drops.
We love our first grade buddies! Every Thursday at 8:30 our 4th grade class will read with a 1st grade buddy in Mrs. Hyder's class. Here are a few pictures of our first week reading.
